Dorothy Brown Calls for A Peaceful and Family Focused 4th of July Celebration and Support for Non-Violence Efforts Across the City
Our hearts are saddened by the surge in shootings, that has led to 61 of our children being victims of gun violence so far this year. The rampant disregard by the perpetrators for innocent bystanders is abhorrent and must stop.
I salute Father Pfleger’s efforts to call attention to the issues we face as a city with his planned march on the Dan Ryan Expressway this Saturday. For questions or to support him in his efforts call 773-483-4300 or visit www.chistrong.org. All Chicagoans should be disturbed by the violence plaguing our city, and it is not up to one group, one neighborhood, or one person to bear the burden to fix this problem. Ours must be one Chicago, united in its support for all of our citizens.
My sincere hope is that we will make this July 4th holiday a time to reflect on family, togetherness and most of all peace. We must strive to make this a violence free holiday, that celebrates our freedom as a country, rather than mourning our losses as a city. God bless our city and God bless America! HAPPY 4TH JULY.
